HIlls Win

random

runnings
Add lots of fresh snow and some freezing drizzle and the Wisconsin hills win this time. I again tackled the hills at my parents yesterday but had to cut part of the route out due to lack of plowing. And because I was feeling a bit miserable in the cold mist and wasn’t sure I was up for the full distance. While roads were plowed and most sidewalks shoveled, there was enough snow on the ground to give unsure enough footing that running took a bit more effort and I think my form was altered. This morning not only do I have a bit of sore muscles, but my hip joints feel like I ran my first half. I think they are sore from the slight change in running motion.

Guilty Admission

random

runnings
Looking at the date of my last entry, I’ve guilted myself into admitting my running status for sake of a blog entry. I haven’t run for a week. RF and I had been thinking of ourselves as pretty hard core for getting out in the cold temperatures, but last week we heeded the warnings against being out too long in the -30+ windchills. I didn’t make the gym though either. Saturday RF and I decide the mini-blizzard also wasn’t in our favor. I think we have to give up our hard-core designation! I need a run, but it looks like I have to get over my aversion to the treadmill to do so. I’ve also had a few other things take precedence in that last week or so, so I still may not be to quick to hop on the treadmill.

Black Crowes Dining

random
About a month ago I went to Moscow on the Hill for the first time. The food is fabulously rich and decadent and the service was above expectations. Last night I returned to Moscow on the Hill for a birthday dinner party and the restaurant again exceeded expectations. This wasn’t only because I got to have a couple of the martinis this time, but half way through dinner we realized The Black Crowes were sitting by us. I’m not a big enough fan to have tried to talk to them, but I also wonder if I would have done so for any other celebrity. Either way, it’s fun to say I had dinner with the Black Crowes… ok... near them.

Three Tights

random

runnings
Saturday morning RF and I got out for a run in the fresh snow and 2 degree wind-chill. I may have to invest in some good winter tights, because even though it was do-able, three pair of tights made me feel a little marshmallow stay puft like. The good news is despite the slight waddle, we easily navigated the paths due to the prompt response to the snow by Minneapolis to clear the trails. Since I started cold-weather running a few years ago, I’ve been continually impressed with how quickly the city trails have been cleared after a fresh snowfall. So far though, I’m not impressed with our December temperatures.
