Injury Blogging

random

runnings
Well, I’ve missed giving several running updates, but there is nothing like having an injury to talk about to get one blogging. Training was coming along nicely and I’d even started getting out for four runs a week: a Saturday long run, a Monday long-for-a-weekday run, Wednesday intervals and finally a Thursday average length run. My goal previously had been three times a week, knowing much more can irritate my knees. My knees have been doing well, but last weekend during our Saturday run I suddenly had a strange pain on the outside of my left foot. It wasn’t anything severe enough to stop me, but it continued into the week. Running doesn’t seem to make it worse and I actually don’t notice it much running once I get moving. The rest of the time it is pretty nagging though. I had a friend who is an ortho doc check it out Thursday. He is pretty confident I don’t have to be worried about a stress fracture but his main message was to control the swelling. My Peroneous tendon is irritated. I’m on a regimen of ibuprofen and icing. RF and I went for 14 miles this morning and things are feeling ok. I’m certainly not ready to give in to a few aches and pains and realize they come with training, but I also am not sure I’ll know when it is an injury versus a training pain.
