Hill Mileage

I went for my longest run since the marathon today. I’m not happy to say it was only 8 miles, but it at least was another tackle of the hills at my parents. I even almost made it the whole length of the ridiculously steep one. I have to build up the mileage again, but it’s good to know I’m still pretty much on top of the Wisconsin hills.

Fitness America

The Las Vegas airport generously has free wi-fi, so as I wait for my flight home I can share a few photos from my trip. We stumbled across Fitness America at the Golden Nugget. I did get in several runs while in Vegas and although I now need to change from tank tops to tights again, I feel rejuvenated in my running.

Six Weeks Later

I’ve taken a bit more time off than I anticipated after the marathon, but I didn’t expect to feel quite so far out of it six weeks later. RF and I took it easy the first few weeks after the marathon and then I took off for vacation. Perhaps unnecessarily I again took it easy last week when I returned to help get over the jetlag. Last saturday RF and I got out for a 6 mile run. We of course enjoyed it, but agreed it just seemed it should have been easier. I feel like to be smart in my running, I already have to start working up the mileage versus diving into long runs. I know I took some time off, but it is still a mental adjustment to understand I’m not where I was six weeks ago.

It’s taking me a bit to get over my jetlag so I haven’t done any running yet. An update on my toe though: I lost the toenail the first day of vacation. (It isn’t pretty.)
