Things To Do

random
Things to do in Milbank SD:

  • Find the house your friend grew up in
  • Go to a bar in the neighboring town of 112 people
  • Check out the granite quary
  • Ogle at the large Lutheran church in town
  • Nap
  • Go to a restaurant/bar on Big Stone Lake for your friend's class reunion
  • Pick sweet corn

It's a pretty simple list, but it was a lot of fun.

The heat didn't lend itself to any running in SD. I actually didn't bring shoes either.

I am quite happy to hear you survived the reunion and didn't melt in the heat.
I've been to Millbank. But when I was there, it was to visit a vendor/business partner. I managed to get out of town just in front of a blizzard that closed the roads for a couple of days.

I didn't bring running shoes, either. :)

Welcome back!

RandomRunnings,

I can't believe you were out by my hometown. You know I am from Marietta, MN and I lived 2 miles from the SD border. Grew up in Revillo and had lots of Dahle friends from Milbank. My math teacher was a Dahle from Milbank. I didn't realize Dave was from their. Spent a lot of time in Big Stone and Ortonville at the roller rink. They had a great drive-in in Big Stone and an A&W in Milbank, which my dad loved to stop at all the time. We use to go swimming every summer at Big Stone, but then Milbank got that swanky hotel with an indoor pool. Unheard of back then!!! Then we tried to swim at the indoor pool. If you know the right places to go in Milbank you can have a lot of fun!! In fact MBH and I were just there a couple of months ago and as we were turning the corner to head towards Revillo we got pulled over by the Milbank police. They don't allow speeding in their town, but we didn't get a ticket either!! I just can't believe you spent a weekend in Milbank, you could have stopped in and said hi to my MOM!!! :) We will have to talk more.

All this talk about a sore knee isn't just a ruse so that you don't have to test your portaging skills, is it? You used the same one last year, didn't you?
